iOS Security Flaws: Apple Patches 33 Vulnerabilities
By Netvora Tech News
A recent iPhone bug has given physical attackers access to deleted voice recordings. The flaw, which has been patched by Apple, allows an attacker with physical access to an iPhone to access a deleted voice recording. This vulnerability was discovered in iOS and has been addressed in iOS 18.1 and later versions. Apple introduced a built-in option to record phone calls in iOS 18.1. When a user starts a recording, participants in the call are notified. The recording can then be transcribed using the Notes app. However, a vulnerability in Notes allowed an attacker with physical access to the device to access a deleted voice recording, according to Apple's explanation of the flaw (CVE-2025-31227). Further details were not provided. Another Notes vulnerability allows an attacker with physical access to a locked device to access notes that have been made. A security issue in Call History causes deleted apps' conversation history to still appear in Spotlight search results. Apple has also fixed a FaceTime bug that prevented the microphone from being disabled during a call, even after the user had attempted to turn it off. In total, 33 vulnerabilities have been patched in iOS and iPadOS 18.5.
