AI-Powered Image Quality Startup Glass Imaging Raises $20 Million in Funding

By Netvora Tech News

Glass Imaging, a pioneering company in the field of artificial intelligence-powered image quality, has secured $20 million in funding. The Series A round was led by global software investor Insight Partners, with participation from previous investors GV (Google Ventures), Future Ventures, and Abstract Ventures.

The funding will enable Glass Imaging to further refine and implement its proprietary GlassAI technologies across a wide range of camera platforms, from smartphones to drones to wearables and more. According to Ziv Attar, CEO of Glass Imaging, the company's AI-powered software can reverse lens aberrations and sensor imperfections to extract the full image quality potential of current and future cameras.

Revolutionizing Camera Performance

By integrating GlassAI software into camera systems, Glass Imaging can boost camera performance by a factor of 10, resulting in sharper, more detailed images under various conditions. According to Attar, the technology is designed to produce images that remain true to life, with no hallucinations or optical distortions. He compares the effect to "taking the noise" out of images, resulting in significantly better quality.

How it Works

Glass Imaging's technology works by using artificial intelligence to learn and characterize lens aberrations, sensor noise, and optical blur from camera data. The AI then creates a network that can reverse these imperfections, resulting in high-quality images.

"We can put our tech in any device that has a camera in it," said Attar. "The lab or computers can capture a lot of data from the camera, and it learns to characterize lens aberration, sensor noise, optical blur, and then it creates a network that can reverse these things."

Future Plans

With the funding, Glass Imaging plans to continue refining its technology and expanding its reach into new markets. The company is poised to revolutionize the digital imaging industry, enabling consumers to capture high-quality images with ease.
